From ideas to action: LIVE-Ex announces its winning youth-led projects

On Friday, 2 October 2026, LIVE-Ex brought together young people, volunteers, youth workers and organisations from across Sub-Saharan Africa for From Ideas to Action, an online dialogue and live awards event. After months of developing ideas to address challenges in their own communities, the young participants finally found out which projects would take the next step.

The session opened with Nicolaus Mukasa, who outlined how the programme works, from mentorship and earth advocacy toolkits to small grants for community-led projects. He highlighted how participants have strengthened both their advocacy skills and their digital employability over the course of the programme.

Fabunmi from ICYE Nigeria then gave a presentation on green energy, explaining its benefits such as sustainability and low emissions. Drawing on Nigerian case studies like solar kiosks and waste-to-wealth initiatives, Fabunmi showed how renewable resources can address energy poverty and youth unemployment across Africa.

Then came the big reveal. The winning LIVE-Ex projects were announced live, and the young changemakers behind them presented their initiatives and their plans for community action, giving the audience a first look at what will be happening on the ground in the months ahead.

The event closed with an open dialogue, connecting young people, volunteers and organisations interested in youth-led action for climate and social justice.

Congratulations to all the winning teams, and thank you to everyone who joined us online!
