Impact Measurement Training and Field Research
Impact Measurement Training and Field Research
A training session designed to introduce and equip participants with the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique—a participatory method that involves collecting and selecting stories of change from local communities. The technique engages stakeholders in a reflective process of discussing, analysing, and recording change.
Those trained in impact research and the MSC technique will work with participants following the Local Actions to gather community stories. These narratives will highlight local perspectives on the evolving relationship between culture, nature, and humanity.
The collected stories and data will be analysed and presented during the Earth Artivist Training and Songwriting Workshop, serving as a foundation for the creation of a multilingual song and the Earth Artivist Toolkit.
Impact measurement efforts will continue beyond the training, throughout August, to ensure comprehensive data collection from all Local Actions.

Earth Artivists Training and Songwriting Workshop
Earth Artivists Training and Songwriting Workshop
A 10-day program designed to build participants’ capacities in songwriting, community engagement, and climate justice advocacy. The workshop is led by two trainers—one specializing in environmental training and community engagement, and another from the International Music Council (IMC) focusing on songwriting.
The workshop culminates in the co-creation of an original song and prepares participants to carry out Local Actions featuring both the song and hands-on community activities. The program also integrates impact measurement and the use of Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) results to enhance relevance and accountability.
Local Actions
Local Actions
Local Actions involve implementing the song and activities developed during the Earth Artivist Training within local communities. These actions aim to promote climate advocacy, cultural engagement, and raise awareness of key environmental and social policies. Through community participation and creative expression, Local Actions seek to amplify local voices and foster sustainable connections between culture, nature, and society.
Symposium on Environmental
and Social Justice
Symposium on Environmental
and Social Justice
The Symposium serves as a platform to present and discuss the initial findings collected by the Impact Measurement expert following Local Actions. These findings will inform the review and development of policy actions and advocacy strategies in collaboration with the Policy and Advocacy expert from IMC, focusing on the IVS Advocacy Asks.
The event will showcase results and insights from the Global Reflection Meeting to evaluate the current state and future direction of the IVS movement. It will facilitate the sharing of experiences, innovations, and the evaluation of a decolonised approach, while defining next steps for environmental and social justice advocacy.
The Symposium will host a hybrid Open Conference aimed at knowledge exchange, best practice dissemination, and stakeholder feedback. Participants will include consortium members and external stakeholders such as local government representatives, the EU Delegation to South Africa, UNESCO, and the University of Witwatersrand.
Following the Symposium, the expert team will present the consolidated results to the online Management Meeting scheduled for October 2025.
