IMPACT MEASUREMENT

Measuring change through stories and community voices

Impact Measurement was a core element of Voices for Change, helping partners understand and demonstrate the impact of International Voluntary Service through participatory research and community storytelling. Rather than relying only on quantitative indicators, the project used the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique to document how volunteering, creativity and environmental action influenced individuals and communities.

The stories collected throughout the project informed the development of educational resources, the Volunteer Rights Framework, advocacy recommendations and the project’s final Change Capsule.

Our Approach

Partners participated in two online training sessions introducing the Most Significant Change (MSC) methodology before applying it during Local Actions across the project. Using a common framework, they collected, selected and verified stories from volunteers, community members and partner organisations to better understand both the challenges faced and the changes experienced.

The project followed the five stages of the MSC process: defining domains of change, collecting stories, selecting the most significant stories and verifying the results before sharing them across the partnership.
