“We came as strangers, we left as a movement”
Youth voices from the Training 4 Trainers in Magliano Sabina, Italy
April to May 2025 · Activists Report
From April 28 to May 5, 2025, young leaders from Palestine, Jordan, France, Germany, and Italy gathered in Magliano Sabina, Italy, for a seven-day Training for Trainers, the first major activity of the ReAct Now project. Over the course of one intensive week, they explored the intersections of climate justice and human rights, discovered non-formal education methodologies, and practiced designing and facilitating workshops they will soon bring to their own communities.
In the two videos below, participants share in their own words what the training meant to them, from the learning and the unexpected connections to the commitment they now carry home.

What happened during the week
The training followed a progressive learning path that began with team building and trust on the first day, moved into a deep dive on human rights and climate intersectionality on the second, and continued with hands-on sessions on non-formal education and facilitation throughout the following days. By the sixth day, participants were facilitating workshops they had designed themselves, testing their skills in real time and receiving feedback from their peers. The week closed with collective evaluation, storytelling, and planning for the road ahead.
Together, the group produced a Training Toolkit, a modular resource containing all session plans and methodologies, openly available for any youth organization to adapt and use.

If you want to replicate or adapt these workshops in your community, the full Training Toolkit is available for download. It is open, modular, and free to use under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC 4.0).
What comes next
These youth leaders are now heading back to their communities, where they will run local workshops and engage 120 young activists across six countries in conversations and action around climate and social justice. In January 2026, the group will reconvene for a participatory evaluation to assess impact and refine the toolkit based on what they have learned on the ground. This is only the beginning of a much longer journey.
