Advocacy and Raising voice for decolonising international volunteering
This team brings together 20 youth advocates who will support the project with social media campaigns and specific advocacy actions. This way more actors will get to know about the current challenges and support the process of change. After the Participatory Advocacy Training in Paris, they divided themselves into different sub-teams who are working on different advocacy asks. Some topics they identified to work on are:
- Deconstruct still existing neo-colonial narratives and practices in the International Voluntary
Service movement: encouraging critical reflection on the narratives we use; promoting the
PAR research and build on the findings. - Understand and challenge the distribution of economic resources between IVS organisations
and in donor funding systems. - Challenge (question and transform) the negative impacts of IVS practices on the climate
- Address visa mobility barriers to make IVS easier to access.
The Youth Advocacy Team is coordinated by Subir al Sur Argentina, ICYE IO and CCIVS.
